Liv Dufrene

Liv Dufrene is a multidisciplinary fine artist, muralist, and writer based in Los Angeles, California. As a figurative surrealist, her work reflects her love of the wild, mystery, and the relationships between humans and the rest of the natural world. Her femme-centric and archetypal paintings invoke an ancient yet everyday magic, often depicting therianthropic deities and figures that blur the boundaries between human, animal and myth.

A third-culture kid who spent her formative years between Europe, Southeast Asia and the United States, with deep Cajun roots in South Louisiana, Liv has always had an unconventional relationship with home. Her fascination with different cultures, perspectives and ways of living has taken her across six continents, where her murals and expeditions have developed a life of their own.

Although she never intended to become an author, Liv has kept journals throughout her life. Eventually, writing became another creative practice she fell in love with, completing her first book in 2026, MY NAME IS LIV, a literary memoir about freedom, belonging and the wild art of becoming. Her writing and visual practice explore themes of femininity, healing and transformation, inviting readers and viewers to look deep within themselves.

Liv's paintings and murals have been exhibited in the United States and internationally. Her studio was lost in the Eaton Fire in January 2025, though many of her works were fortunately rescued. She is currently available for murals, commissions and inquiries about collecting original paintings.
